Palmares in Cuba Palmares is a small town located in the municipality of San Luis, in the province of Pinar del Río, Cuba. It is known for its tobacco plantations and its traditional Cuban culture. The town has a population of around 4,000 people and is located approximately 40 km from the provincial capital, Pinar del Río. Palmares is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Vinales Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
